About ShareText
ShareText is a place to hand something to someone else and then have it go away. A note, a file, a PDF, a link, a QR code — you create it, you share the link, and it expires when you say it does. No account is needed to use any of it.
What we believe
Most sharing tools are storage products that happen to have a share button. That means an account, a folder structure, and a copy of your file living somewhere indefinitely. Sharing something once should not require any of that.
So the defaults here run the other way: things expire, nothing is sold, and the parts that can work without us seeing your content do exactly that. Encrypted notes are encrypted in your browser and the key never reaches our servers. The text tools run entirely on your device — what you paste into them is never uploaded at all.
The security page sets out exactly what we can and cannot see, including the parts where we can.
How it is paid for
The free tier is funded by advertising on the marketing and blog pages, and by optional paid plans. Ads never run on a shared note, file or document — the page your recipient opens carries no advertising and no third-party tracking.
